- Tumours
- Bone disease
Examination procedure
For the examination, we will ask you to:
- Put on a hospital gown and remove your jewelry, along with any metal objects that could affect image quality.
- Lie comfortably on a mobile examination table in a well-lit and ventilated room. Depending on the type of examination, a contrast agent such as gadolinium may be injected to capture more accurate images.
- If you wish, wear earplugs or headphones with music. The MRI machine produces a noise similar to percussion and this can be annoying for some patients.
- Remain still for 20 to 60 minutes while the examination is performed.
The length of the examination and the noise generated by the machine may cause some discomfort. At Imagix™, our technologist sees and hears you at all times and will make sure you are comfortable and feeling well throughout the examination.
To help you plan, please note that the total length of your visit may vary between 60 and 90 minutes, even if the examination itself only takes between 20 and 60 minutes.
A medical prescription is required to perform this examination. The cost of this examination is not covered by the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ).
